Discover how the cancan affected fashions
in underwear, why drag was invented and where women were
arrested for doing the shimmy. The show is a beguiling mix of
dance with stories of scandalous female performers and
subversive dance forms. Based on Wendy Buonaventura’s book of
the same name and originally a one-woman show, this adaptation
features solos from dancers on this year’s Sirocco programme.

Our party
evening begins with a light meal of Middle Eastern and
Mediterranean dishes*. There will also be a bar throughout the
evening. During the dancing, feel free to wander through to the
café, where dance dvds will be showing. During the evening Hazel
Kayes will give a practical demonstration on how to apply stage
make-up; henna and massage will also be available.
And expect some impromptu performances by
our artists.
DRESS UP! LET YOUR HAIR DOWN!
Wild, elegant, enigmatic attire is
encouraged, with a prize for the most impressive outfit.

via the Sirocco website for friends and partners of Sirocco
participants; price £16.

This vegetarian buffet is available from 5.30-7.30pm only.
SIROCCO BAZAAR
We don’t have space for a
big-time souk. Instead, we are proposing a home-made bazaar. All
participants are invited to bring along good quality
(please note!) items to be sold during the Saturday Night
Extravaganza: costumes, scarves, CDs, dvds, books, lanterns,
magic carpets….etc. Put a price and your name on each item and
bring it along at the start of our Saturday night event.
If your item is sold, 10% of
the proceeds will be donated to RAWA. This organisation is
dedicated to educational, health and other projects to help
women in Afghanistan. Every year Sirocco makes a donation to the
work of this vital organisation. (see
